One of the major differences between a lot of businesses and a climbing manufacturing business is that in the final analysis, our business first and foremost is mostly concerned with safety.....not profit. That may sound facetious, but when everyday you absolutely know that everything you make can be the only thing between life and death then there is a weight to every decision. It is for this reason that Wild Country has made it a policy to go beyond any minimum safety standards to try to be as sure as possible that everything we do and everthing we make is as safe as it can be. To this end we have aimed to add layers of safest practices to the basics required in law, thus allowing us to claim and be sure of the claim that Wild Country gear is the safest in the world. These 'layers' are briefly discussed below, in the 'flow' of their importance, and you can click through to a more in depth look at each one..... CE - The most basic certification - as laid down by European law which all manufacturing must obtain for each relevant product. Absolutely neccessary but in our view not far reaching enough. UIAA - A series of standards which build upon the CE certification to give further confidence to the climber. It is the UIAA committees which asses prodcuts and provide relevant information to the CE bodies that then set the standards. ISO 9001 - To our mind an essential plank in any safety orientated business in maintaining efficient and safe systems. This is a far reaching and difficult standard of assessment of the business organisation and structure with a continuous assessment of business practice which makes sure safe and correct structures are in place. 3 Sigma - A method of statistical analysis of production which gives an ability to analyse more in depth the breaking load of a given product allowing us to be confident each item produced reaches (and surpasses) the standards laid down for the original product - and more importantly EACH BATCH of products made. Batch Testing - Allied to 3 Sigma testing Batch Testing is the real key to all of this and is the part which truly allows us to be certain of the strength of our products - as with a batch testing system we can guarantee statistically the safety rating every product that goes out the door. So please explore these pages and even if you don't truly understand 3 Sigma or Batch Testing, you can be assured we do and that we also understand the importance of the safety of all our products. After all we all climb too.....and like you we don't want to be looking down thinking.....'Hmmm was the material that made that sling as strong as we thought'... With all our testing we know it is.... |
